Italian Coast on a Budget: Pescara (skim version)

A lot of you probably came here from the Pescara vlog (hi 🙈 — and if you haven’t, check it out to join us for this 4-day trip!).

In May, me and my bestie took a trip to Pescara, a lesser-known town on the Italian coast. It turned out to be the perfect budget beach getaway — the whole trip cost us less than £500 in total.

This is the first post in my 3-part Guide to Pescara series:

Why Pescara?

After living in Singapore for 4 months (one of the most expensive cities in the world!) and being a student in general, a luxury trip wasn’t on the cards.

We wanted a beach holiday, and Italy was high on our list. My mum had heard of the famous €1 housing scheme in Penne (not too far from Pescara), and after some Netflix-prompted villa dreams, we stumbled across Pescara in our research.

Instead of the overcrowded (and overpriced) Amalfi Coast, we chose Pescara — a lesser-known, more affordable seaside town.

Flights ✈️

We only took carry-ons — a capsule wardrobe made it easy (post on this coming soon!). This saved us luggage fees and kept things simple.

We even opted for random seats (which meant being split up for the flight 😝) but that’s the budgeting life.

Hotel 🏨

We stayed at B&B Hotels. Nothing five-star, but it was:

Cost-wise, splitting a double room kept it budget-friendly.

Transport 🚍

Once we got settled, we realized Pescara is super walkable. The beach, shops, and even Carrefour were all within 20 minutes.

If you’re taking the bus:

Food 🍕☕

Eating out didn’t break the bank at all:

Coffee culture is strong here, and you really don’t need to splurge to eat well.

Activities 🌊

Pescara is a beach holiday, so expect lots of tanning, swimming, and people-watching. The beach itself is free, unless you book a sunbed at a beach club (which are plentiful if you prefer a little luxury).

We also treated ourselves to a €30 blowout at a local salon — which felt like nothing compared to Singapore’s S$250 nail infills 🙃.

Shopping is modest but available in the city centre, with some decent fashion and beauty stores. I’ll share more on that in my next post.

Final Thoughts 💭

Pescara is perfect if you want:
✔️ Sun and sand without Amalfi prices
✔️ Walkable streets and hidden-gem vibes
✔️ A trip that feels stylish but still under budget

It’s not a place packed with endless sights — but that’s what makes it ideal for a reset weekend with good food, the beach, and a touch of Italian charm.

Ciao,
Alicja xx
